Messi was not at his creative best in Inter Miami’s latest fixture, but still played his part in a 1-0 win that has kept them at the top of the MLS Eastern Conference. His son Mateo also got the chance to show what he is all about, with there some brave souls still left in the stands when he entered the pitch.

As part of the Inter Miami academy system, it may be that the Florida-based outfit have another Messi in their senior ranks at some stage. Mateo appears to have inherited his father’s ability to beat opponents, as he nicked the ball off Luis Suarez’s son Benjamin, produced a cheeky nutmeg, picked himself up off the floor and fired into the back of the net.
