Earlier this month, Alexander-Arnold formally announced that he will leave his boyhood club Liverpool this summer as he is close to completing a move to Real Madrid on a free transfer. The right-back's current deal at Anfield runs until June 30 and it was earlier reported that Los Blancos want the player to join them in early June so that he can travel with the squad to the US to participate in the Club World Cup.

reports that the Spanish giants are now close to completing the right-back's signature in time and the English star is expected to take part in the Club World Cup. The Reds, however, will demand a €1 million (£850,344/$1.1m) compensation fee to let the player leave before the expiration of his deal.
