AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani has admitted that the Serie A giants have started negotiations with Carlos Tevez’s representatives over a January move, but have not yet spoken to Manchester City.
The Argentina international is a fringe figure at the Etihad Stadium these days, after wearing the current Premier League leaders’ patience thin after a number of petulant incidents.
Tevez’s apparent refusal to enter the field of play against Bayern Munich back in September was made all the worse by the forward’s trip back to South America without consent from the club, and Robero Mancini’s men want rid of the striker come the new year.
Milan are in the market for a new attacker following the health concerns of Antonio Cassano, and recently admitted that they would ideally like to take Tevez on loan in the next transfer window.
Galliani has admitted that negotiations have begun, but City are yet to come to the party.
“Tevez is a City player,” Galliani stated to Gazzetta dello Sport.
“The English club has authorised us to speak to his agent but we haven’t spoken directly to City yet.
“We don’t know what City want.
“I prefer not to speak too much about Tevez, otherwise his price will go up and this is not good,” he said.
City are eager to offload Tevez in the new year, but due to their high asking price may have to make do with a loan deal.
